NASS, EFCC, ICPC, CBN to partner against cyber crime

Bola Badmus, Abuja – 02.09.2008

National Assembly, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have resolved to partner themselves in the fight against cyber crime and money laundering.

The partnership is coming ahead of an international conference to be held in Las Vegas, by the International Association of Certified Anti- Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).

Already, EFCC Chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri; ICPC chairman, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola (rtd.) and CBN governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, will, at a retreat in Abuja, today, brainstorm with experts and stakeholders on the modalities for stemming the tide of money laundering and cyber-crimes in the country.

A group in the National Assembly tagged Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists Caucus, a subordinate group of ACAMS organised the two-day retreat.
