WARWICK — Police in two states helped a Warwick woman get back a diamond engagement ring valued at more than $5,000 that she lost in an Internet scam.
Donna Cassanite reported to police earlier in the month that she sold the ring on Craigslist and shipped it to an address in Texas, but had not received payment in her PayPal account.
Police determined that documents Cassanite received for the sale were counterfeit and generated in Nigeria.
The City of Lubbock Police Department in Texas located the person who received the ring and seized the ring from a jewelry shop that bought it, according to officials.
Warwick police received the ring and returned it to Cassanite on Tuesday.
