A Sanger woman reported to the Denton County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday that she has been scammed out of more than $6,000 in a Nigerian scheme.

She said that on Nov. 24 she received an e-mail from a man who claimed to be a bank executive in Nigeria.

He told her that for $400 she could receive a bank card already containing a $1.5 million credit. After she sent that money, she received eight more requests for money, she said.

She sent about $6,000 and also provided the man with all her identifying information.

Recently she received a package with a debit card inside.

But it was not activated, she said, and a note inside the package said she would need to send $400 more to activate it.

She contacted her bank and learned that no money had been placed into her account as promised.
